• Permethrin is prescribed for the treatment of scabies( a condition where tiny insects infest and irritate your skin).
• It may also be used for the treatment of head lice.

Pediculosis:

• Causative Agent: Parasite Pediculus humanus.
• Nature: Ectoparasite feeding on blood.
• Affected Areas: Typically infests hairy body parts like the scalp and pubic area.
• Symptoms: Lice attach to the scalp, and lay eggs at the base of the hair.

Scabies:

• Causative Agent: Mite Sarcoptes scabiei.
• Nature: Mites attach to the skin.
• Affected Areas: Commonly found on knees, elbows, breasts, thighs, pubic area, and between fingers.
• Symptoms: Skin rashes, intense itching, burning sensation.

Pharmacology

Presystemic metabolism occurs in the skin. Less than 0.5% of applied permethrin is absorbed within the first 48 hours. Absorbed permethrin is rapidly metabolized, primarily in the liver. Metabolites are primarily excreted in the urine.

• Only for external use.
• Take a small amount on your fingertip.
